I’m Richard, the writer behind the site. I’ve been fascinated by mythology for as long as I can remember. There’s something endlessly interesting about the stories people have told to explain the world around them, from the origins of the universe to the mysterious creatures supposedly lurking just beyond the village.
Mythology Planet is where I get to explore that fascination and share what I discover.

The website covers mythology and folklore from across the world, including ancient Greek and Egyptian traditions, Japanese yōkai, Norse legends, Inuit storytelling and plenty more.
Some articles explore familiar figures such as Zeus, Hecate and Anubis. Others introduce lesser-known beings like the Japanese Jikininki, the Korean Haetae or Mahaha, the unsettling tickler of Inuit folklore.
I have a particular fondness for the unusual and obscure, but the aim is always the same: to make these stories interesting, accessible and enjoyable to read.
How I Approach the Stories
I try to strike a balance between engaging storytelling and careful research.
Where possible, articles draw on historical texts, traditional accounts, academic research and reputable cultural resources. I also try to acknowledge when stories differ between regions, communities or historical periods.
Mythology rarely offers a single, definitive version of events. Stories change as they’re told and retold, and those differences are often part of what makes them so fascinating.
I’m not claiming to be an authority on every tradition covered here. I’m an enthusiastic reader and researcher who believes these stories deserve to be explored with curiosity, care and respect.

Despite the many gods in Egyptian mythology, I have noticed that there are only three pages on this.
The same goes for the Indian mythology or folklore, there is only one page about it despite the hundreds of gods there are in indian mythology. Like god Krishna who has 10 incarnations, there are hundreds of others like Ganesha, Hanuman or Shiva.
So I think you could have more pages on both.
